A privacy-first BI agent. Same iDBQuery backend, same UI, same 10-tool agent loop — repackaged as a native app with on-device, open-source AI. Built for banks, defense, healthcare, and anyone who can't put their data through a managed AI service.
Backend, AI, and embeddings all run on the laptop. No external service ever sees your schema, your rows, or your prompts. Verifiable with a packet sniffer.
Same iDBQuery backend, same UI, same 10-tool agent loop. Every cloud feature lands on Desktop on the next release because it is literally the same code.
Runs offline between weekly token refreshes on Standard. The separate Air-Gapped Enterprise SKU never touches the internet at all — signed offline license, USB delivery.
Most users have a 16 GB M1/M2 Air or a 16 GB Windows laptop with no discrete GPU. Desktop is built to run well on those — workstation-class quality is a paid opt-in, not the default.
Minimum (fallback)
~5 GB at runtime. Multimodal (text + image + audio + video). Around 30 tok/s on a base M1 Air. Capable but capacity-limited on long prompts.
Recommended default
~12 GB at runtime, ~9 GB on disk. Native tool calling — the sweet spot for the iDBQuery agent loop. Around 18 tok/s on a 16 GB M1 Air. Smooth.
Best experience
Mixture-of-Experts: 26B reasoning at 4B-active inference cost. ~18 GB runtime, ~15 GB disk. Multimodal. ~28–45 tok/s depending on chip. Excellent.
A 64 GB workstation with a high-end discrete GPU unlocks larger 30B+ models for frontier-tier reasoning at ~60 tok/s. Below 8 GB, we honestly recommend the cloud edition.
Download the native installer for macOS or Windows. Tauri shell, ~15 MB. The installer detects your hardware and picks the right local model on first launch.
Desktop is not a separate account. Sign in with the same email and password you use on idbquery.com. The app caches your session in the OS keychain so you don't have to log in repeatedly.
Desktop is an admin-gated permission on your account. An admin flips it on once — after that, you can sign in from up to 2 devices, and admins can instantly revoke a single device or your whole Desktop access at any time.
After first login, the app behaves like a native offline app for 7 days. Automatic background refresh whenever you are online. Air-Gapped SKU skips the refresh entirely.
Pick the one that matches your data-residency story. Most teams use the cloud; regulated teams pick Desktop.

Desktop is not a separate product— it's a permission on your normal iDBQuery account. Sign in with the same credentials you use on idbquery.com. To turn the permission on, submit the form: an admin reviews, approves, and your account is unlocked for Desktop within one business day.
Tell us about your setup. We'll only email you about this request.
